Holding an event can be for many reasons, to raise money, a celebration, inform audience or to sell something.   It is important to ensure that the style, audio visual and venue match the mood of the kind of event, for example a high technology company holding a conference on a new product is going to be more likely to use comprehensive audio visual over a flip chart and may have a higher brand expectation than a small charity dinner and dance for a local charity where the emphasis is to raise as much money as possible.

It is easy to be taken away with hotel packages and adding extra items from the events manager of the venue, however have a clear goal and outcome of what you want and stick to it.
