processes and documentation

All of our electrical equipment hired passes strict electrical testing.  All of our hire items feature a unique asset ID which relates to our hire track software.  Here we are able to track all hires, repair details and test status. For security and administration purposes we are unable to disclose our entire hire stock, nor segregate certificates per job.  All testing is carried out in house by competent persons and is to a standard as laid out by the “Code of Practice for In-service inspection and testing of electrical equipment”

Equipment is maintained so as to prevent danger and relevant legislation includes

HASAWA 1974

PUWER 1998

MHSWR 1999

EWR 1989

WHSWR 1992

Visual testing before hire

Before hire all equipment undergoes a full visual inspection before being dispatched. This is checked at the time our hire prep sheet is signed off in the warehouse.  If a piece of equipment fails the test it is withdrawn from service and notified on our hire software for repair and alternative is supplied.

visual tests:

Check cable for nicks, burnt, unusual lumps or kinks

Plug / socket damage, burnt pins, correct size fuse

Operation of equipment, safety cutouts, control switches

Visual – missing knobs, damaged casing

Combined testing and inspection

Annually all equipment is subject to a combined inspection and full electrical test, this is in compliance to the code of practice for in service of electrical equipment.

Certificates & Recording

Please note that equipment does not have PAT stickers on as these details are kept on our hire track software and any requirements for a specific certificate we will require a asset ID to issue when it was last test.  When equipment is booked out for hire using the picklist, required testing is highlighted and the system will not continue until the test has been completed.

You may download our generic PAT certificate of coverage, we are unable to supply individual equipment certificates on a per job basis.

Repairs & Failures

Equipment not reaching either the visual standards before hire or the combined annual test are withdrawn from service and software notified to advise of equipment being withdrawn from hire.  Equipment is repaired or replaced in house and once fixed by skilled engineers will be subject to manufacture tests and then a combined visual and electrical test.  Once it has passed it will be returned to service.
