Community & Live Music Events
Live Music & Public Address Reinforcement
The origins of CBSVL started in live music, specifically theatrical events and band PA reinforcement covering the Herts and Essex live music scene. Often assisting local schools in producing their musicals and bands it is an aspect of live events close to our heart. Scalable solutions to both bring onsite states and power generation, or make use of venues and facilities, we offer a great sound experience. Our hire stock has many industry standard sound equipment elements such as the Allen & Heath mixers we run through to our mainly KV2 stocked brand of speakers

Equipment to consider for Community and live music

Mixing Desk
Without a mixing desk volumes of microphones cannot be mixed. For bands we use digital mixing desks to ensure great quality from microphone to speaker
Things to consider for mixing desks:
- Complexity and competence of user, sometimes a simple mixer is the best
- Number of channels needed.
- Requirements for remote connection of microphones

Speakers
Loudspeakers convert electrical signals from amplifiers into vibrations which emanate through the air. Speakers come in all sorts of shapes, sizes and purposes. By understanding your event we can ensure the right speaker is matched to your material. We have ranges of passive (requires an amplifier), active (have amplifiers built in) and battery powered speaker systems.
Considerations for speaker selection:
- Used indoors or outdoors i.e. can they get wet?
- Type of speaker required, Active, passive, 100V
- Sound quality – music for live festivals, or Speech for public address

Lighting Equipment
Lighting either for the eye candy during a daytime festival, or functional lighting for evening or night performances. Our range of IP waterproof lights will ensure the lights are left on even if it rains!
Lighting to consider for Events:
- Stage Light or face light
- Colour up lighting
- Moving lights
- Lighting control

Microphones
Microphones are essentially a converter of energy, they convert air waves into electrical signals. They all generally work on the same principle but the means to convert can sometimes differ.
Things to consider for selecting the right Microphone:
- Amount of air the instrument generates
- How loud the instrument is depends on the microphone type Dynamic / Active
- Wireless or wired?
- Kind of stand or clip onto instrument

Power
Often an overlooked aspect of live events is the requirement of power, generally assumed because it’s everywhere in the home or office. Take a festival on a field however and you’ll need to bring a generator onsite to run everything. Putting a sound system on a float or vehicle, again consideration for power, either battery inverter, inverter from vehicle supply or a diesel or petrol generator.
Considerations for Power
- Fuel Tank Size for length of event
- Total Power requirement
- Cabling and mains distribution on site

Frequently asked questions relating to Community and live audio
Sure, we are on hand to help either design a bespoke package for you or can suggest pre packages of equipment we stock to ensure congruence between your event style and equipment choice.
This entirely depends on what you want to do, for small hires we may advise equipment can fit in a car or small van, others we will quote for a large van delivery and collection
For simple items we can provide instructions, however would generally recommend hiring one of our highly skilled technicians for the event. They can ensure the equipment runs at it’s best and are on hand for any issues such as crashes, freezing and things like microphones squealing or volume adjustment.
