Required documents to hire

To hire equipment from CB Sound Video Light Ltd (CBSVL) you will need to demonstrate and satisfy us that you are who you say you are, and that you have the care of our equipment in your best interest.

Below are our minimum requirements, we may ask for more proofs however if you are unable to satisfy our risk assessments or we have concerns. These requirements are black and white, no exceptions. If at any point we feel there is a risk we will immediately terminate engagement and the hire will not progress.  This is to safeguard our equipment. 

Any resistance to providing information or disputes about what you think is applicable will result in immediate termination of the enquiry. 

Hiring as a private individual

If you are hiring as a private individual or a small club or sole trader we will require the following minimum information:

1)Proof of Identification

  • Primary ID: A valid UK driving license or passport.

2) Proof of Address:

  • Utility Bill: Gas, electricity, or water bills
  • Bank Statement: A recent bank statement (within the last 3 months) 
  • Council Tax Bill
  • Other Documents: In some cases, other official documents like a HMRC document may be accepted.

Hiring through or as a Company

If you are hiring through a company, an organisation, Ltd company or other such corporation we will require the following minimum information:

1)Proof of Identification

  • Primary ID of person hiring: A valid UK driving license or passport.

or

  • Secondary ID of one of the directors: A valid UK driving license or passport and a personal utility bill of the director to prove their address.

2) Proof of Address: matching the registered trading address of the company, or if trading from a different address  bills or delivery notes to prove both addresses.

  • Utility Bill: Gas, electricity, or water bills
  • Bank Statement: A recent bank statement (within the last 3 months) 
  • Council Tax Bill
  • Other Documents: In some cases, other official documents like a HMRC document may be accepted.

Anything you send us as an attachment are stored on UK servers and encrypted. We may retain the information in accordance with our GDPR framework to speed up hires in future, if you wish for us to delete your documents after the hire please let us know.

You can cover sensitive information such as bank account totals, sort code and account numbers but we must be able to see it is a legitimate document. If necessary we may ask what certain parts covered are in relation to.

We understand not everybody has all documentation to hand, however as person / organisation transacting daily life we would expect the information to be available. Where possible we may take more proofs of other communications if you are unable to provide the specific ones requested but this is at our discretion. Ultimately though if you are unable to verify who you are and satisfy us we will refuse the hire.
